The Blue Door Gallery
Out of Africa Exhibition February 2011
I want to acknowledge with many thanks your donating a copy of your catalog Out of Africa to the Smithsonian Institution Libraries Warren M. Robbins Library of African art. I’m delighted to be able to add it to our permanent library collection.
I was led your this exhibition by Osi Audu, whom we have known for many years and whose work is in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art. And I'm happy to learn about the Blue Door Gallery and your programs. The works in this particular exhibition were a wonderful range. I was particularly struck by the photomontage quilts and the Senufo metal birds and the ceramics.
We are sending you a packet of publications from the National Museum of African Art.
Sincerely,
Janet L. Stanley

Robert Spinazzola has continued to create sculpture from recycled steel since beginning work in a Cass Corridor, Detroit studio in 1975. All of his work is constructed from 100% recycled metal and has been a key element of his 37-year career. The sculptures are all labeled with the title of Sauvage, a link to Detroit's early French history.
